HISTORY AND FACTS

BAKER BUFFALO FESTIVAL HISTORY

The City of Baker is known as a Great American Hometown. It is located just outside of Baton Rouge.

The Festival was started in 1993 as a fundraiser for the schools in the Town of Baker. The schools and their organizations are able to use the Festival to raise money for their activities. Besides what they raise on their own, the Festival Committee also makes donations in the form of lump sums to all the schools that participate.

Baker High School's mascot is the Buffalo, thus the name Baker Buffalo Festival.

Baker is a small town that is involved in the Festival. It is a wonderful family affair that includes a festival, parade, and a two day rodeo.

Besides the Festival, Baker also provides many outlets for community service in the venues of schools, clubs, and civic organizations.
